Jodie Carey (b.1981, East Sussex, UK) is a British artist who lives and works between London and her hometown of Battle in East Sussex.
Carey creates site-responsive sculptural instatallations as a response to the human desire to affect our surrounding landscapes, often engaging loosely with ritualistic traditions. For Carey, our physical world is a site of material memory that captures the slow, silent movement of time.
She holds an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art London (2007).
Recent solo exhibitions include Guard, Edel Assanti, London, UK (2024); Beyond the Matrix, 100 Bishopsgate, London, UK (2024); Common Thread, New Art Centre, Salisbury, UK (2020); Sea, The Foundling Museum, London, UK (2018); and Stand, St Cyprian's Clarence Gate, London, UK (2018).
